The Chile-European Union Liaison Office was created in 2005 with the purpose of promoting scientific cooperation opportunities between Chile and the EU, supporting Chilean participation in the EU’s Framework Programme, and acting as a focal point for the Marie Curie Mobility Programme.

En ellos se encuentran los documentos de orientación (orientation papers) para las convocatorias de 8 áreas.

Altos Funcionarios de Ciencia y Tecnología de América Latina y el Caribe y la Unión Europea se reúnen durante dos días en encuentro organizado por CONICYT en la Universidad de Concepción. Durante la actividad se acordó realizar una reunión entre agencias de financiamiento de ambas regiones, en octubre de 2012 en Santiago de Chile.
Temas como la inclusión digital, la e-salud y los Sistemas de Transporte Inteligente (ITS) se discutieron en la Torre Telefónica durante el Taller del Foro TIC del proyecto AMERICAS (Latin America-Europe ICT Cooperation Advanced Strategies).
Se trata del sucesor del Séptimo Programa Marco (7PM) y contempla una inversión de 80.000 millones de euros entre 2014 y 2020. Incluye un fuerte impulso a la innovación. Los investigadores chilenos podrán postular a participar en consorcios de Horizonte 2020.
